A
bout Us ...

Hook & Ayres Design
Our work is truly unique, each piece hand-made using a breakthrough process that Gary discovered 18 years ago while trying to do something else entirely. He knew he was on to something and has been refining it ever since. Gary and Jennifer make all the work themselves, preferring to literally be "in touch" with the work. Jennifer's designs are miniatures visual narratives. Gary's designs are bold and geometric, composed using graphics software that he created.

It was the enthusiasm of quilters we met at craft shows that first drew us into the world of quilts. Jennifer has a strong love of textiles and it was irrististable. While we do a few traditional quilt designs, we particularly enjoy creating original work; we have also worked collaboratively with customers who approach us with their own design ideas. In fact, quilters are among our most wonderful customers, appreciating the exacting craftsmanship and designs (and also being the nicest people!)

Porcelain Gems
If you have visited us at a quilt or craft show, you’ll know that we offer many, many styles. Our favorites include quilt designs, narrative imagery, and work inspired by traditions of beauty the world over

Dangle earrings, post, clip and "clip-dangle" earrings are available for pierced ears and with clips. Sizes range from 1/8th of an inch to two inches. We have dangle earrings in square, square on point, diamond, round and oval with some organic shapes as well. Ear wires are sterling silver, available in surgical steel and gold fill. Our bracelets include a delicate, eleven-block style, the popular seven-block pieces, and a bold five-block size. Also available are pendants, necklaces, bolo ties, pins, stick pins.

Blue is the most popular color on Earth, as it is among our customers. The mineral Cobalt provides the same luminous color found in Chinese porcelain, Delftware, and Italian Majolica. Pieces are fashioned in porcelain, this purest of white clays is also the strongest. Jewelry is also avaialble in black and white, deep red, jade, chocolate, tan, and lavender. Our multicolor items features transparent layers of watercolor-like washes, resembling small personal paintings.
